Kim Nettles: Rescuer of People, Livestock, and History

Kim Nettles is a graduate student in George Mason University’s history program. After retiring from the Coast Guard in 2006, she raised goats with her husband on a small farm in western Illinois for eight years. She served on the board of directors for a regional museum from 2007-2012, and assisted the county historical society with digital archiving and research. She is also a quilt restoration and conservation artist.

In 2014, she moved to the foothills of the Shenandoah Mountains, where she divides her time between duties at a volunteer fire department and studies in the applied history program at George Mason Universtiy.

Her research interests include JA Ranch history and application of social network and digital analysis tools to history studies.
